I don’t have oily skin or dry skin and I don’t have blemishes either. I would like a drugstore brand foundation that has good coverage but isn’t heavy on my skin. I don’t know if I need a matte finish or a more dewy finish. I am 21 so I am young and this foundation would be for everyday use.

This is a pic of me with no foundation or anything on and in natural light.

Thanks.

You are going to be very hard-pressed to find a foundation in the drugstore that will suit you out of the bottle, and here’s why: most drugstore foundations do not cater to the uber-fair.

Covergirl has one or two that may work, but I don’t know what they’re like because CG is generally a brand I don’t use. Maybelline Fit Me has a very light foundation — #110 — but I’m not sure if it’ll suit you because it looks to me like you have more pink undertones, and that particular shade I mentioned has more yellowish ones. I think, in terms of colour, you’ll probably have the most success with L’Oreal True Match. The finish is fairly satiny (I used to use it years ago but haven’t for quite a while), coverage is — I think — medium/buildable. It also comes in three “branches” — Cool, Neutral, and Warm — and a good selection of colours in each.

Revlon Colorstay is full coverage (which, IMO, you don’t really need; that said, you could probably sheer it out), but doesn’t feel heavy. That said, I don’t know if the lightest shade would work on you.

If you’re not adverse to ordering online, I’ll also suggest Sleek’s (UK drugstore brand) liquid foundation. It comes in a ton of colours, including some very pale ones. Their website also sells little sampler tubes, so you can try a few shades in a range before you buy (a full bottle is $11 USD; a sample kit is $4.50 USD). Be aware that shipping outside Europe is super pricey ($13.50 USD), so if you choose to do that, you may want to think about ordering one or two other things, too. (Their eyeshadow palettes are fantastic, as are their blushes.)

Thank you for your help…I was thinking about maybe trying a tinted moisturizer but I have never used them so I don’t know what to expect.

Tinted moisturizers can be tricky as well. That said, they may work better for you because they’re a sheerer coverage so would be more forgiving if you didn’t get the colour quite right, or if you tan a little bit over the summer. Bobbi Brown has a good one (a normal one and an oil-free one), and I know the Laura Mercier TMs are highly rated (also a regular and oil-free one).

That pic makes me look a little more pale than I really am, but I find it hard to match my skin because I have olive skin with cool undertones. I may have to give up on drug store brands and splurge for the good stuff haha. I really appreciate your help.

i find that any maxfactor liquid foundations such as lasting performance (although not drustore but still very cheap) are good alrounders without going for luxurious or expensive alternatives… you only need a little at a time so its well worth paying slightly more for. also think about application.. i would suggest a sponge would suit you best as fingers shouldnt be used and brushes are harder to master xxx (dampen the sponge b4 applying)

Thank you guys I have really clear skin, but my cheeks get red throughout the day sometimes so I like to put something on them. I tried Bare Minerals but it was way to cakey for my skin and too much coverage. I have tried different foundations but haven’t found one to match my skin tone just yet.
