I don’t understand this part of your post:

i always thought that if you were it you acne flares

If you could express what you want in a more coherent fashion (e.g., no run-on sentences), it’ll be easier for the rest of us to, in turn, help you out.

Hi Briana, If I understand correctly you are looking for foundaiton advice and one of the quesitons you have is why you are pron to acne flares. The first thing you want to look at is skin care. what do you use to cleanse and moisturize your skin? If you don’t have a skin care regiment I suggest to adapt a small one, nothing big at first as it can be a overwhelming. The key is to find a good product made especially for your skin type whether it’s oily, dry or combination. You don’t have to spend a lot of money either, do some research or ask your doctor what they recommend.

Another thing to remember, for us women especially, is hormones. We are all going to break out from time to time, stinks but that’s the way it is.

Another thing that may be causing your breakouts is a dramtic change in your foundaiton routine to often. It’s ok to change foundations as our skin changes. For example, I use a different one in summer than I do winter, but changing to much can cause your skin to break out. Find a foundation that works perfect for your skin type. You can go into Ulta or Sephora and tell them what you are looking for and be color matched. They will also provide you with a small sample so you can use it and make sure it is something you will like.

I hope this helped and if there is anything more that I can do please just holler. :-) Have a great day!

thank-you it did but what i am trying to find out is what kind of foundation should I use, because my understanding was that the more makeup you apply to your face the more your acne will flare, so I have never worn it. Well I am pregnant now and my face gets red splotches plus I already have a little bit of acne so it looks horable lol. I want to start wearing foundation and setting it and stuff, like I  have seen I just don’t know where to start =[

Unfortantly there is really no way to tell you what color you should wear. I would go into a Ulta or Sephora and have them color match you. If you want to buy drug store makeup, the best thing is to hold the bottle to your face and try to match it the best you can. I usually try to match it and then go one shade darker. As far as foundation causing acne, I find some do break me out, for example I can not wear MAC at all. It breaks me out everytime. However, as long as you don’t leave the makeup on your skin to long, and use a good cleanser for your skin it shouldn’t be a problem. Also, personally, I think it’s important to give your skin a day to “rest” with no makeup on it. That’s why when you find one that works you should stay with it unless your skin changes (becomes more oily or dry)

The best thing to do is maybe see a dermatologist about the red splotches and acne. You can also try some DIY mask for acne prone skin. I really like Revlon Colorstay, it’s as good as any of the highend products out there. For powder I use the Palladio Rice Powder and I LOVE it. It takes very little, (VERY litte) and it soaks up all the oil on your skin. Remember this, different things work for different people. Do some research and if there is a Sephora near you go in and tell them what you are wanting. I wouldn’t spend a lot on powder though, try the Palladio Rice Powder, you can pick it up at Ulta or a Sally’s Beauty Supply.
