ARGH!!! I can’t take it anymore my skin is so oily and I feel like no matter what I do I can’t stop myself from looking like a slick track by the end of the day!! I have talked to my dermatologist about it and she just says that those with oily skin don’t wrinkle as badly! ha well hey that is great but in the mean time I don’t want to look all nasty and sweaty all of the time!!! Does anybody have any products that they like that have worked well? I have spent so much money on so many I am looking for any new ideas! Thanks so much!!

What’s your current skincare routine, if you have one?

Right now I am using Pro Active as my skin was breaking out like crazy, but that is under control so I may switch out from that.  Before that though I used clinique, philosophy, origins, you name it and I have tried it!! I have used oil controlling powders, gels, everything!

The first thing I thought of was some sort of mattifying or oil-controlling moisturizer.

Bioderma Sebium Mat is one (I’ve been using it myself for a few weeks now, actually; so far, so good; you can find it on Amazon or sites like frenchcosmetics.net or leguidesante.com; it’s also available in Canada at larger Shopper’s Drug Marts). Another one I’ve come across (haven’t tried it yet) is Acure Organics Oil Control Day Cream.

Another option for you may be the Oil Cleansing Method.

Your derm is right; oily skin is much easier to combat than dry skin. The proactiv may be overstripping your skin and could possibly be causing an increase in oil production. I would reccomend trying a gentler acne product of your choice. Even though you are breaking out you still need a good moisturizer to apply during the day while only using skin sensitizing acne products at night. Toner is wonderful. It removes the hard water from your skins surface and regulates its PH balance preparing the skin to absorb the moisturizers. Dermalogica Clearing Mattifier is a great product that you can use to control oil production through out the day (along with sunscreen). I’ve attached a link containing reviews for you to check out and decide if you would like to give it a try.

I have oily skin that is prone to adult acne too. I swear by Dermalogica (I’ve used a lot of different facial products).  Also when applying your face cream do not over massage your skin as it increases oil production.  As always sunscreen is your best friend.
